Best of Raja Ampat: Sorong-Sorong

  • DAY 1: Pick up at Sorong airport, transfer to the boat, welcome drink and accommodation. Check dive in the afternoon at one of the reefs surrounding Sorong. Overnight sailing to Dampier Straits.
  • DAY 2: Diving in the fabulous reefs in the Dampier Straits: Sardine reef, Blue Magic and Mioskon amongst others. Night dive at Saporkren jetties (muck diving).
  • DAY 3: Early morning excursion under the canopy at Gam to see the birds of paradise. Diving in Mike’s Point, Cape Kri and night dive in Yenbeser.
  • DAY 4: Dive the jetties of Airborek and around the Penemu area, in My Reef, Melissa’s Garden, The Lagoon, etc. Afternoon ascent to viewpoint in Fam. Overnight sail to Misool.
  • DAY 5: Two dives in Sagof, afternoon in Baby Rock and night dive in Nudi City (Gamfi).
  • DAY 6: Shadow Reef (aka Manta Mountain), two dives in Jamur Boo (Boo Rocks) and night dive in Yilliet.
  • DAY 7: Dive the fabulous reefs of the Fiabacet group, such as Nudi Rock, Tank Rock, Whale Rock and night dive in the small Yilliet. Optional visit to Misool Eco Resort.
  • DAY 8: Diving the caves in Goa Farondi, The Friendly Canyon and Razorback, and tender boat tour to the lagoons, plus visit to cave with bats and stalactites in the afternoon. Overnight sailing to Batanta.
  • DAY 9: Two muck dives in the morning on the black sand slopes of South Batanta, such as Black Beauty or Happy Ending. Sail back to Sorong to fly the morning after.

Raja Ampat & Ambon: Sorong-Ambon, Ambon-Sorong

  • DAY 1: Pick up at Sorong airport, transfer to the boat, welcome drink and accommodation. Check dive in the afternoon at one of the reefs surrounding Sorong. Overnight sailing to Misool.
  • DAY 2: Two dives in Sagof, afternoon in Baby Rock and night dive in Nudi City (Gamfi).
  • DAY 3: Two dives in Jamur Boo (Boo Rocks) and night dive in Yilliet.
  • DAY 4: Dive the fabulous reefs of the Fiabacet group, such as Nudi Rock, Tank Rock, Whale Rock and Shadow Reef (aka Manta Mountain). Optional visit to Misool Eco Resort and overnight sail to Pulau Koon.
  • DAY 5: Three day dives around the very strategic eastern point of Pulau Koon, where the walls on both sides of the island converge into a sandy plateau facing a deep trench, congregating large masses of fish and the added excitement of some pelagic sightings.
  • DAY 6: Dive around Karang Hatta and other sites in the Banda group. Night in Bandaneira, the most beautiful natural anchorage of Indonesia. Dusk dive at the mandarinfish site.
  • DAY 7: Dive the famous sites in Ai and Run Islands, with sheer walls offering excellent drift dives along massive barrel sponges, giant fans and schools of fish, and the eventual presence of larger fish. Afternoon dive in the Lava Flows, a stunning hard coral garden that grew at a astounding speed after Gunung Api’s last eruption in 1988.
  • DAY 8: Cultural visit around Bandaneira, the heart of the Spice Islands: Fort Rotterdam, the Governors House and the nutmeg plantation. Dive Batu Kapal around noon and Pulau Soanggi in the afternoon. Overnight to Nusa Laut.
  • DAY 9: Two dives at the famous site Ameth’s Knoll, a reef parallel to the coast that the local villagers have protected since the old times, to allow fish to spawn and spill over to adjacent areas. Afternoon and night dives at the next village to the south.
  • DAY 10: Two muck dives around the jetties at the Twilight Zone, with a vast array of critters and oddities to be found. Preparation for departure the morning after.

Raja Ampat & Halmahera: Sorong-Bitung, Bitung-Sorong

  • DAY 1: Pick up at Sorong airport, transfer to the boat, welcome drink and accommodation. Afternoon and night dive outside Sorong on a reef patch named “Green Light”. Overnight sail to Kri.
  • DAY 2: Dive the famous sites around Kri: Mioskon, Sardine Reef, Cape Kri… 3 day dives with great scenery and schools of fish, plus an excellent night dive in Yembeser, with epaulette shark and other critters.
  • DAY 3: Early morning visit to see the Red Bird of Paradise. Dive Mike’s Point and Airborek. Overnight to Misool.
  • DAY 4: 3 day dives around Misool (Around Farondi, Fiabacet and Boo) plus a night dive. Plenty of soft coral, fans and schools of fish. Tender boat tour around the limestone islands and caves in Misool.
  • DAY 5: Dive the wall of Wayilbatan with the largest fans in the area, then to Pelee for second and afternoon dive. Overnight to Pulau Pisang.
  • DAY 6: 3 day dives around the rocks Batuanyer to the north and south of Pulau Pisang. Soft corals, schools, Napoleon wrasse and jacks. Overnight to the Patintie Straits.
  • DAY 7: Dive the current-struck sites in the Patintie Straits such as Proco channel, Batu Jabu and the signature site discovered by the manager of Ondina: Ric’s Rock. Night dive and sail to the Goraici group.
  • DAY 8: 3 day dives around the Goraici Islands: Reenie’s Rock, Batu Mandi and Terumbu Gora. Sail to Pulau Tifore.
  • DAY 9: 2 morning dives in Pantai Sago, a wall with a school of 1.000 barracudas, and an afternoon dive on the coast of the island. Overnight to Lembeh Straits.
  • DAY 10: 4 dives in the Lembeh Straits, including coral sites like Angel’s Window or the 80 m long WWII Japanese Mawali wreck, as well as some of the famous muck sites like Hairball, Jahir or Air Perang.
  • DAY 11: Dive on the east coast of Bangka Island or the East coast of Lembeh (weather depending). Alternatively, full diving day in the Lembeh Straits, including night dive.
  • DAY 12: Early morning dive in Batu Kapal or any other site around the Lembeh Strait. Second dive after breakfast on a shallow quiet place on the coast, and rinse the equipment to dry. Afternoon visit to see the Tarsiers in the Tangkoko Reserve.
  • DAY 13: Transfer to the airport after breakfast.

Forgotten Islands (north): Saumlaki-Tual, Tual-Saumlaki

  • DAY 1: Dive the surroundings of Saumlaki, check dive and possibly night dive.
  • DAY 2: Dive the islands of Dawera and Daweloor. Walls and seamounts.
  • DAY 3: Dive Pulau Dai. Great walls with schooling barracuda, jacks and trevallies.
  • DAY 4: Dive Pulau Teun, a volcanic island with walls, ridges and sharks.
  • DAY 5: Full day in Dusborgh atoll, where hammerheads are commonly sighted. Night dive in Pulau Nila.
  • DAY 6: Full day in Nil Desperandum atoll, with hammerheads commonly sighted.
  • DAY 7: Dive Pulau Serua
  • DAY 8: Dive the small islands in West Kai.
  • DAY 9: Last two dives Near Tual.
  • DAY 10: Departure.

Forgotten Islands (south): Kalabahi/Kupang - Saumlaki, Saumlaki - Kalabahi/Kupang

  • DAY 1: Transfer to the boat upon arrival, welcome and accommodation. Check dive and night dive in one of the muck sites inside Kalabahi Bay, such as Pertamina jetty or Mucky Mosque. Overnight to Wetar.
  • DAY 2: Dive the west coast of Wetar, on the fishy walls around Tanjung Nunukae and the small satellite island of Reong. Visit to the nearby village to look for salt water crocodiles. Overnight to Romang.
  • DAY 3: Dive around Pulau Nyata, with stunning walls, caves and schools of fish, plus occasional sights of pelagics. Overnight to Damar.
  • DAY 4: Wall dives around the islands of Nus Leur, Terbang Utara and Terbang Selatan, with impressive wide angle scenery composed of large fans, barrel sponges and schools of small fish.
  • DAY 5: Dive around the volcanic island of Teun, with ridges covered in pristine hard corals and schooling surgeon, tunas and trevallies.
  • DAY 6: Dive Duisborgh Reef in search of schools of hammerheads and other large pelagics. Night dive in Pulau Nila.
  • DAY 7: Three day dives in Nil Desperandum in search of school of hammerheads and other large pelagics. Overnight to Pulau Dai.
  • DAY 8: Dive the walls of Pulau Dai, in impressive sites like “To Dai For”, where a large school of barracudas awaits divers as they drift past the point.
  • DAY 9: More wall dives in Dawera, where clouds of small anthias, damsels and glassfish pack the crevices and overhangs creating magnificent opportunities for WA photography. Overnight to Yamdena.
  • DAY 10: Dive the slopes around Pulau Nisnitu and last dive in the magnificent hard coral gardens of Karang Barasadi, before sailing into Saumlaki to prepare for flying the morning after.

Maumere & Alor: Maumere-Kalabahi/Kupang, Kupang/Kalabahi-Maumere

  • Day 1: Transfer to the boat upon arrival, welcome drink and accommodation. Check dive in the jetties of Maumere, with multiple critters including ribbon eel, ghost pipefish and frogfish, and a small wreck of a sailing boat. Night dive in Maragajong, a wall SW of Pulau Besar.
  • Day 2: First dive in Tanjung Gedong, along a wall with a couple of pinnacles rising from it, sporting reef sharks, tuna, barracuda and schools of fish. Second dive in West Serbete, a ridge covered in hard corals with schooling silvery fish and sharks. Third dive in Watu Peni, a drift dive along a wall with turtles, eagleray and napoleon wrasse. Night dive inside a nearby bay.
  • Day 3: Morning visit to the village of Lamakera, dedicated to traditional whaling and manta hunting, but currently undergoing a sponsored program to become a conservation center to study manta populations. After breakfast dive Pulau Soangi, featuring terraces covered in soft corals, caves, canyons and a swim-through across the island, or if weather doesn’t allow it, dive Tanjung Lowokuma instead, a slope with scattered coral heads, fans, sponges and glassfish, schools of fish and critters. Afternoon dive and night dive in The Brewery, an excellent muck site in West Lembata.
  • Day 4: Dive West Pantar, in current swept sites such as Pulau Kambing, a small inlet featuring a big boulder with an arch and schools of fish, a pinnacle with a sprouting little ridge that attracts a lot of fish life, and Watu Ile, a small wall with a swim-through at 26 m. Night dive at a nearby reef.
  • Day 5: Dive the Straits of Alor, in Cave Point, a wall with many pockets an islets, Babylon, hanging gardens of soft corals, sponges and fans, and Kal’s Dream, a ridge exposed to currents that offer some adrenaline diving and pelagic fauna. Night dive in front of a fresh water creek at Pancoran.
  • Day 6: First dive at The Great Wall of Pantar; second dive at Tanjung Elalara, a slope that turns into a wall, with good coral coverage, schools of fish and the od snake, morays or mantis shrimp. Afternoon and night dives at Beang Abang, a critter dive in a small beach with hot springs, where ribbon eels, frogfish and even Rhinopias can be found.
  • Day 7: First dive at Clownfish Valley, probably the largest anemone field in the world. After breakfast visit a village to witness traditional Ikat weaving. Second dive at The Boardroom, a slope covered in hard and soft corals, with lots of fish and eaglerays swimming in the blue. Afternoon dive in The Cathedral (current allowed), and night dive inside Kalabahi Bay.
  • Day 8: Dive inside Kalabahi Bay, first dive in Mucky Mosque, a slope covered in corals with sights of octopus, leaf fish, mantis shrimp and morays, and second (and last) dive in the Pertamina Jetties, an excellent muck site with ghost pipefish, seahorse, frogfish, mandarin fish… Arrive Kalabahi in the afternoon and preparation to fly the morning after.

Cenderawasih Bay

The largest marine national park in South-east Asia, in Cenderawasih Bay we can encounter in the shallows species that normally live in deeper waters. We will also find a wide variety of corals. The good muck diving will keep the lovers of the tiny and strange critters busy, they will enjoy searching for pigmy seahorses, tiger prawns and frog fish among other species.

Raja Ampat & Cenderawasih: Sorong-Biak, Biak-Sorong

  • DAY 1: Afternoon and night dive outside Sorong on a reef patch named “Green Light”. Overnight sail to Pulau Amsterdam.
  • DAY 2: Dive the wrecks around Pulau Amsterdam. If conditions are favorable, visit to the leatherback turtle rookeries at night. Sail to Biak.
  • DAY 3: WWII Japanese wrecks (Shinwa Maru, Cross wreck or Pillbox wreck) in Manokwari bay.
  • DAY 4: Dive around Pulau Purup.
  • DAY 5: Dive north Roon, Pulau Auri and the remains of a Zero plane wreck in Tanjung Ayami.
  • DAY 6: Dive around Tanjung Mangguar and muck diving in Nepanyaur bay.
  • DAY 7 - 8: Dive the bagans with whalesharks.
  • DAY 9: Wall diving in the atolls, in Tridacna Wall and Spag Point.
  • DAY 10: Dive around Miosnum and West Yapen
  • DAY 11: Dive the wrecks of the landing barges in Pulau Numfor, completely covered in soft corals and small fish creating a little oasis of life on the white sand slope in which they lay. Sail back to Biak to fly the morning after.

All Cenderawasih: Biak-Biak

  • DAY 1: Transfer to the boat upon arrival. Welcome drink and accommodation. Check dive in the wreck of a PBY Catalina, a World War 2 American flying boat.
  • DAY 2: Dive the western end of Pulau Yapen, in Sewandeh and Slamiapien islands and other submerged reefs, with giant fans, soft corals and plenty of fish.
  • DAYS 3-4-5: Wall diving in the atolls, in Tridacna Wall and Spag Point, and the shallow plane wrecks in Pulau Rouw.
  • DAYS 6-7: Dive with the whalesharks under the local fishing boats (bagans).
  • DAY 8: Dive north Roon, Pulau Auri and the remains of a Zero plane wreck in Tanjung Ayami.
  • DAY 9: Dive around Pulau Purup, with beautiful coral formations, giant barrel sponges and glassfish.
  • DAY 10: Dive the wrecks of the landing barges in Pulau Numfor, completely covered in soft corals and small fish creating little oasis of life on the white sand slope in which they lay. Sail back to Biak to fly the morning after.

Banda
Remote and mysterious, the Banda Sea is the best option for divers searching for the most exotic dives of their lives and breathtaking natural sights. Located between Papua, Sulawesi and Timor, the beautiful diving sites in the many small islands found in route are always a spectacle of life and diversity.
Ambon & Triton Bay: Kaimana-Ambon, Ambon-Kaimana

  • DAY 1: Two muck dives (check dive and night dive) around the jetties at the Twilight Zone, with a vast array of critters and oddities to be found. Overnight sail to Nusa Laut.
  • DAY 2: Two dives at the famous site Ameth’s Knoll, a reef parallel to the coast that the local villagers have protected since the old times, to allow fish to spawn and spill over to adjacent areas. Afternoon and night dives at the next village to the south. Overnight to the Banda Islands.
  • DAY 3: Dive Pulau Soangi and wall dives around Pulau Ai. Dusk dive at the mandarinfish site. Night in Bandaneira, the most beautiful natural anchorage of Indonesia.
  • DAY 4: Cultural visit around Bandaneira, the heart of the Spice Islands: Fort Rotterdam, the Governors House and the nutmeg plantation. After breakfast dive Batu Kapal and afternoon dive in the Lava Flows, a stunning hard coral garden that grew at an astounding speed after Gunung Api’s last eruption in 1988. Overnight to Koon.

  • DAY 7: Dive around Tanjung Papisoi: 335 Species record site and others around Pulau Mommon, like Karang Pata, a big seamount full packed with fish. Visit the Tiki – Tiki waterfall, a fresh water cascade that falls straight into the sea.
  • DAYS 8 and 9: Dive around Triton Bay, in the most emblematic sites like Larry’s Heaven, Caldera and Orembai, with astounding coral growth and masses of fish, plus some muck sites on the coast. Tender boat tour around the maze of islands to see hornbills and other birds.
  • DAY 10: Dive the bagans for whalesharks and afternoon sail through Namatote strait to see ancient rock painting. Sail back to Kaimana at sunset to fly the morning after.

All Banda Sea

  • DAY 1: Check dive and night dive in one of the muck sites inside Kalabahi Bay, such as Pertamina jetty or Mucky Mosque.
  • DAY 2: Dive the most emblematic sites of the Alor straits, such as Clownfish Valley (with the largest anemone fields in the world), the walls at Cave Point or Babylon… Overnight to Wetar.
  • DAY 3: Dive the west coast of Wetar, on the fishy walls around Tanjung Nunukae and the small satellite island of Reong. Visit to the nearby village to look for salt water crocodiles. Overnight to Gunung Api.
  • DAY 4: Dive around the volcanic island of Gunung Api, literally “Fire mountain”. Although dormant, this island is famous for hosting a large population of sea snakes underwater and myriads of sea birds flying above the surface. Overnight to Lucipara.
  • DAY 5: Dive the impressive walls of the Lucipara and Penyu island groups, a small group of sandy keys featuring massive barrel sponges, schools of surgeons and carangids underwater, with common sights of pelagic fauna. Overnight to the Banda Islands.
  • DAY 6: Dive around Karang Hatta and other sites in the Banda group. Night in Bandaneira, the most beautiful natural anchorage of Indonesia. Dusk dive at the mandarinfish site.
  • DAY 7: Cultural visit around Bandaneira, the heart of the Spice Islands: Fort Rotterdam, the Governors House and the nutmeg plantation. Dive Batu Kapal around noon and Pulau Soanggi in the afternoon. Overnight to Nusa Laut.
